The Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush consists of oval toothbrush heads and the mode of action is sonic or vibration in small spurts. Sonic toothbrushes vibrate 30,000+ times per minute contributing in removing plaque, food, debris, and bacteria between the teeth and slightly under the gum line. The vibration promotes a fluid dynamic in the mouth to remove bacteria just beyond the tip of the toothbrush bristles. These toothbrushes come in an array of colors. The battery life on average lasts up to 21 days. Type of batteries used, depending on style, are lithium ion and NiMH.
