ORAL B iO TOOTHBRUSH

Oral B iO Toothbrush

Oral B has their latest electric toothbrush on the market. The iO has the newest technology for an electric toothbrush. A few months ago an Oral B representative talked with my office.  She mentioned one of  the main complaints was the sound of the old Oral B electric toothbrushes so with that  in mind they made  this one is quieter.  The pressure indicator now lets you know the perfect presssure, when the light is green. Whereas previous Oral B electric toothbrushes only alerted us when too much pressure was applied. It  has a magentic charger with a three hour charge time. Has brushing recognition to allow 3-D tracking of all the surfaces of the teeth,It is the only electric toothbrush ADA approved, meaning it went through rigorous testing to confirm what they advertise the brush to do is what it actually does.

On that note it claims to help gingivitis within 8 weeks from unhealty gums to healthy in 83% of gingivits patients. (honestly if you  properly brush two times a day and floss daily, gingvitis will reverse. It ususally takes about two weeks).

Not only does it  have the previous Oral B electric toothbrush heads oscillation rotations but they added a micro-vibration to the head. This has the brushing action mode in the toothbrush head rather than the handle. Keep in mind with this type of technology in the head, the other Oral B toothbrush heads are not interchangeable with this new version and vice versa.

There is an App to monitor and coach how to best clean areas of the mouth. It has five smart modes: daily clean, intense, whiten, gum care and sensitive —all displayed on the interactive display screen in the handle.

My disclosure is I like the elecric toothbrushes and recommend them all the time. I have truly seen great improvement and results in gum health, plaque control and overall oral health in people. I believe they simply do a geater job than a manual toothbrush on many levels. Such as anything with a motor is better than something manual. They significantly help with aggressive brushers as they have indicators to alert the brusher if it is too hard. In comparison it’s like using an electric sander where light pressure does a great job and is easier to use, and good old fashioned hand sanding can cause more pressure than needed and  end up removing too much structure.

They have the 2-minute timer to encourage longer brushing. This electric toothbrush is on the higher end of costs. Check with your dental office if they carry this toothbrush , since they buy it at a cheaper price through the representative they may sell it for a cheaper price than the stores. In addition they may have a mail-in rebate attached to the toothbrush.
